CONFIRMED: Tom Baker to return for Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary
Long rumoured. It has now apparently been comfirmed through various articles and sources that Tom Baker will be returning to Doctor Who and it’s 50th anniversary next year.
Obviously storyline elements are shrouded in mystery and there have been no indications from the BBC about confirmation. There is still speculation that the 50th Anniversary could be Matt Smith’s departure from the show (especially since the question that should not be asked was revealed). However it does look like he will be returning to the show in some shape or form. Whether it’s a Time Crash style appearance or some CG pokery involved is anyones guess. However it will be good to see Tom back in the role of the Fourth Doctor.
There has been no indication about other actors who have played the role returning. Although it has long been known that David Tennant is determined to return. Christopher Eccleston will be the most likely to not return since he has stated on numerous times that he does not want to return.
Since there has been no official response from the BBC. I’m still going to take the details with a pinch of salt. However given that it is looking more credible. The 50th Anniversary does look to be incredibly special.
