London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony
Last night, the eyes of the world were turned towards the capital city of the United Kingdom as the London 2012 Olympic games began with the Opening Ceremony.
While the Opening Ceremony was filled with images and the history of the United Kingdom it also contained a reference to a certain Type 40 Time and Space Capsule. During one of the dance sequences the engines of a time machine with its brakes left on could be heard.
Unfortunately there was also going to be a Doctor Who segment but due to the length of the overall Opening Ceremony it ended up being cut. The cut segment was going to feature images of all 11 Doctors. The Doctor Who brand manager Edward Russell clarified this on twitter.
A video montage which very briefly showed all 11 Doctors was approved but we were told it may not be included which was clearly the case.
This is not to say that the Opening Ceremony was any less interesting for it. It would be too difficult to single out any particular stand out moment from the event itself however the Queen meeting Bond, Rowan Atkinson’s appearance and the dance routines themselves were all memorable.
