Doctor Who: The Last Day of the Ponds

The BBC have released a video which looks at the production behind the opening 5 episodes of Doctor Who and the final days of Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill’s time with the Doctor Who production team. Last Day of the Ponds is a 10 minute video which acts as the epilogue to the story of the girl who waited and the roman centurion who waited.

Doctor Who will return in December for the 2012 Christmas Special.

It’s time to say goodbye to the Ponds today as the mid-series finale of Doctor Who’s Seventh Series is aired on BBC One. 7×05: The Angels Take Manhattan is the final episode to feature Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill as the Doctors companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams. The Characters have been with the Doctor since the introduction of the Eleventh Doctor in 5×01: The Eleventh Hour. They will be replaced by Jenna-Louise Coleman who will join the series on the Christmas Special later this year.

As part of the build up to this weekends mid-series finale of Doctor Who. The BBC have released 20+ photos from 7×05: The Angels Take Manhattan. The episode features the departure of Karen Gillan & Arthur Darvill from Doctor Who and will air at 7:20pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.

Since these photos should be considered as having storyline details. They should be avoided by anyone not wanting the episodes storyline being spoiled.

Arthur Darvill – BBC Breakfast Interview

Arthur Darvill appeared on BBC Breakfast this morning, mostly to talk about the new stage show that he will be appearing in called “Our Boys”. The stage show will be about a military hospital and a comedy concerning the experiences of injured soldiers returning home.

Towards the end of the interview Arthur delved into his time and experience on Doctor Who but did not reveal any spoilers towards the episode 7×05: The Angels Take Manhattan which sees himself and Karen Gillan departing the show as Rory Williams and Amy Pond.

We spoke to Arthur about a stage version of Our Boys along with the writer of the story Jonathan Lewis. He explained that the story is based on his own experiences of life in a military hospital which makes the play very funny and very honest.
Arthur tells us that he has met some fantastic young soldiers who have been injured in conflict as part of his preparation for his role as Parry
Arthur also tells us about his forthcoming exit from Doctor Who saying people should be ready for tears.  Arthur will be in Doctor Who on Saturday on BBC One at 7.20pm.
The play ‘Our Boys’ opens at the Duchess Theatre on Wednesday 3rd October, with previews from Wednesday 26 September.

Doctor Who 7×05: The Angels Take Manhattan – Trailer 2

As well as the trailer that was released yesterday by the BBC for the mid-series finale of Doctor Who. There was another trailer for 7×05: The Angels Take Manhattan attached to the end of the last nights showing of 7×04: The Power of Three.

7×05: The Time of Angels will air at 7:20pm on Saturday 29th September, BBC One and BBC One HD. For those outside the UK, the episode will be airing at 9pm (8c) on BBC America and Canada’s SPACE channel on the same day. It will then air the week after at 7:30pm on Australia’s ABC1 channel. However for those who have access to the ABC1 iView service, the episode will be available to watch within hours of its UK transmission.
